The creative team behind VideoPad 17.09 has gone the extra mile to create a program that is powerful and -friendly at the same time. This updated version offers new features for streamlined work with videos.
For example, you will be able to manage the timeline more efficiently, have access to advanced audio editing tools, as well as experiment with mesmerizing visual effects. They also improved the overall performance.
I had an exclusive possibility to test the VideoPad 17.09 video editor before its official release. Previously, I used VideoPad 13.16 for my FixThePhoto projects and I’m genuinely impressed by how the developers improved the program. From the first launch, I noticed that the interface has become more intuitive. Besides, navigating different tabs and menus is easier than ever.
The new collection of video effects deserves many positive comments. I tried many of them and achieved amazing results with my videos. The audio editing tools have also been upgraded. I like how quickly I can adjust background music and dialogue tracks. This is amazing if you want a balanced soundscape.
My colleagues from FixThePhoto, Eva and Kate, decided to test the program together with me. Eva liked enhanced audio editing features most of all. She said that isolating sound elements and controlling each of them separately was very intuitive. Kate praised the extended collection of transitions and effects. Now she can make her videos more captivating without looking for third-party effects.

1. Audio editing tools. The set of audio editing tools here is rather basic. It is probably OK for beginners but may put professionals off. Audio is an integral part of most video projects, so developers should pay close attention to this issue. Otherwise, s will choose other programs for mixing audio and handling complicated tasks.
2. Text and intro customization. Similar to audio editing, work with text is limited in the software. There are too few fonts and intro-making options. I wish I could get more creative with text editing in VideoPad. Unfortunately, now I have to use other tools to create captivating intro sequences and subtitles.
3. Overall performance on larger projects. I have tested the program with both very simple tasks and more demanding ones. Based on what I see, it copes well with small assignments. When it comes to really serious work, it may slow down or totally freeze. I hope the team will fix such issues and VideoPad will work without lagging and crashing.
If you’ve decided to switch to We have tested them all and know that they have -friendly interfaces, lots of creative effects, and stable performance. There are programs for newbies and professionals.
open-source video editor is that the latter is more flexible, letting you customize your workflow. Still, it suits experienced s better, while VideoPad is easy to master even for total beginners.
DaVinci Resolve is a popular video editing program with a rich toolset. It is packed with cutting-edge instruments for color grading and advanced video editing. Generally, DaVinci Resolve is a go-to program for seasoned s, who regularly work with complicated projects. VideoPad, in its turn, is better suited for rookie s.
HitFilm Express is a wonderful replacement for VideoPad 17.09 if you want to focus on creative video editing. There are lots of visual effects, motion graphics tools, and 2D and 3D editing features, which are indispensable for pro-level tasks. Similar to the above-mentioned programs, this one can be an overkill for novices.
Lightworks is a powerful program with tools for multi-track editing, lots of special effects, and rich export options. This software outperforms VideoPad when it comes to advanced video editing. Still, if you are using a free version, you must put up with format and resolution (720p) limitations during export.
OpenShot is a very simple program with a drag & drop interface. It contains basic video effects, transitions, and audio editing tools. In fact, OpenShot is even easier to master than VideoPad. As for disadvantages, there are no 3D editing tools.
